Dental Insurance Is Not As Expensive As You Think

More Than 45 Million Americans Without Dental Coverage

A report released today by the Centers for Disease Control is reporting that an estimated 45 million Americans do not have dental insurance.

Most people who have private health coverage also have a dental policy, but roughly 70% of those who have to buy their own health plan do not.

With the proven impact of oral health on conditions like heart disease and diabetes, many experts are asking why recently passed health care reform offers no help.

Under the reform laws passed in March, adults must buy health insurance or pay a fine starting in 2014, but the law doesn’t require them to buy other types of coverage like dental or vision.

Because of differing rules regarding pre-existing conditions, a dental plan contains lengthy waiting period for serious dental issues. (Note: nearly all plans will cover preventive visits immediately).

The problem is that when you are in serious need for dental care, it’s too late to buy a policy to cover that service because of the waiting periods.  If you crack a tooth and need a crown, you’ll have to have your policy in place for 6 months to a year before they cover that service.

Dental insurance is available for small business in most states and for individuals in some states.  It’s not as expensive as you may think. You can explore more at our dental insurance page or contact Small Business Benefit Solution, LLC for a dental quote.
